The Unveiling of a Writer

Throughout the past quarter, you have been discussing the process of writing and your identity as a writer. For this last (!) blog post, I want you to discuss who you believe you are as a writer and/or composer. To do this I want you to have a little fun, so I'm not looking for you to do a traditional 300-500 word response. What I want is you to think about how you could represent the characteristics that define you as a writer/composer that you have developed and honed this quarter (and those that you came in with).

Some suggestions for ways to create this:
*A job wanted ad or a personal
*A  poem
*Through a series of images
*an obit
*a short short (short fiction piece)
*a song

The possibilities with responding are very open. You can respond back to this post OR you can create a new post.

This should be as long as it needs to be to get your point across. I should see elements of you----so I should be able to get a sense of who wrote what without even looking at the author's name.

And remember: have fun with this---it's your last one for this class. =)

  1. Writing.

    Why do you spite me?

No matter how hard I try you always seem to

    find me.

    I loathe you so

Every assignment I get a blow

I do only what I must, its bad

    I know.

    But oh what is this?

    You give yourself no credit

You have your own voice, without having to edit!

You take pride in not using those 50 cent words

And value your own opinion over the world’s

You Annalise are a good writer its true

But the most memorable part of your writing is

    that it came from you.

  2. Have i found you yet?
I use you daily but are you apart of me?
I think you are getting there
but i haven't found you yet

    I know i will someday
And one day it will click
    But when?
    can it be now?

I will need to work towards it
But it think I can do it
    I will need to research
And i will need to think

    From pathos, logos, ethos
    To audience, genre, rhetorical situation
I think I am starting to get there
    Im starting to make connections

Writing is more then just words
    Its your words
    Your creativeness
    Your meaning

    Its starting to click
    Finally here
    But the road never ends
    Writing never ends

    No matter what situation
    You will need writing
    So start now
    And never stop

    If i can do it
    You can too.

  3. Meticulously he works through the night, asking himself, how can he best that fool, that Bat?
Running around in that silly cape, he shouldn't stand a chance but every time he has him trapped... he gets away. The Riddler is his name and riddles are his game. He prods he pokes and he scrutinizes, but the Batman always gets his way. He always finds that one weakness in logic, the one thing that he hadn't thought of.
But not this time, oh not this time.
There's a flash and the Batman is suddenly there standing, shrouded in shadow.
He's got him this time, this trap will work, guaranteed.
It doesn't... the Bat is ever vigilant, always probing, more so than the Riddler.
He accepts defeat and retreats for another day.
    Maybe someday...

(For anyone really confused, I just think that I ask a lot of questions about my writing and how to make it better and work very hard to find the flaws and fix them if there are any)

  4. I find writing class simple
    You walk in, sit, listen
And then it's given to you

    The idea
The idea of which you'll write about
    No real creativity needed

    The assignment is easy
    You take evidence
    To prove an idea

    And idea that has already
    been given to you
    So what's the difficulty?

    Impressing a teacher
    Involving your voice
    Identifying yourself as a writer

    To write without guidelines
That's the hard thing about writing
I do not find writing simple, just the class

So what do I take from this?
    I take this exact knowledge
    Writing is not simple

    it never has been,
    It never will be
    All of us struggle

    No key terms
    50 cent words
or long reading will change that

    We must create from
    what we know, but
    most importantly

We must create from what we don't know.
